I am an aspiring chemist; this book has made it possible for me to explore many different organic experiments in a well planned out and careful manner. Jerry is a close personal friend of mine and I can personnaly vouch that he has dedicated his life to perfecting this manual. A masterpiece! If I could I would give this book a million stars out of five. Of an interesting note is the Acylation and Alkylation of Aromatic Compounds (Experiment #18). This three part lab is perfectly suited for the home chemistry lab as well as teaching your students to play with Chemicals. Uses chemicals availible through the Aldrich lab manual ranging from the relatively nontoxic to the volatile and flammable suspected carcinogens. Buy one for yourself and one for someone special you love!

The only thing that was (a little) disappointing was that the so-called "CD-rom" didn't actually have any music on it. I popped it into my car discman and no tunes. What's up with that? Maybe in the next edition...I'd recommend something from the Karate Kid soundtrack, maybe just use the hole thing. Word to your mother.

Storm Thorgerson is best known, of course, as the premiere album art designer with a 30-year association with Pink Floyd. If you became fond of his work because you're a PF fan, you don't want to miss this book just because Floyd art isn't the primary focus this time around. Storm's writing in Mind Over Matter was very entertaining, but in Eye of the Storm he's assumed an even more relaxed, personally revealing style. His character comes through more clearly, and he's a very engaging character indeed!

Among the book's features is an art concept that was originally intended for a Hey You 1994 concert video. He confesses that the Tree of Half Life concept didn't begin as Pink Floyd art. It tells more than his previous books about his talented associates, for example Keith Breeden (who is unfortunately now retired from the business).

The book is compelling entertainment, and it fills a gap for some of us who missed seeing his intriguing work for less famous bands than Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd. My favorite at the moment is the Catherine Wheel art he selected for this book's cover.

It's too bad this book is out of print, it's got many great personal interviews, particularly with V. C. Andrews, since this was the only real interview she ever did. It's really in-depth and you get to know the kind of lifestyle she led.A necessity along with V. C. Andrews: A Critical Companion and The V. C. Andrews Trivia and Quiz Book. Also check out your closest college library for a 1980 issue of people magazine that has some big pictures and a little article about her. It's great.

An excellent book for anyone interested in California History, US History, the Great Depression or the history of corporate agriculture. Originally released the same year as Steinbeck's The Grapes of Wrath, McWilliams' book relates the history of not only migrant farm labor in California, but the corporate farm as well. Having included extensive background on California's 19th Century land grab, McWilliams presents a comprehensive look at corporate agriculture, including its effect on various labor groups and the economy of the State of California. Written with a definite bias toward the underdog (the migrant worker), Factories in the Field nevertheless provides the reader with an understanding of the beginnings of corporate economy in California and its true beginnings in agriculture, including an explanation of the power of the ag growers--a political hot potato that continues in the state today.

I don't even live in Colorado yet this book made me feel like I was right there experiencing the changes of a place full of great heritage. The author has a wonderful way of taking you down a historical path, celebrating these places with such a lovely sense of place and roots and an amazing decication to preserving both the past & the present. A very enjoyable read!

Faith-based Diplomacy, Trumping Realpolitik offers a fresh perspective on how to deal with religious militancy. It goes beyond traditional notions of power politics to get at the heart and soul of how to deal with religious terrorism, thus superseding in effectiveness Washington-centric notions of guns and missiles. The creativity of the authors offers much grist for policymakers to "think outside the box" of how traditional power politics are conducted and offers new insights into the process of conflict transformation. A very interesting, insightful, and helpful book for the politician, religious leader and educated layperson.

This book is an excellent, succinct, well-organized source of family therapy theories. It is clearly organized with the most crucial information along with resources for additional reading. It is also organized for use in teaching family therapy theories. I found it to be a wonderful source to use in preparing for the MFT certification exam.

This book explains clearly and simply to kids how to get started researching their family tree. Ann Douglas delves into a bit of genetics and then talks about how kids can get started -- how to interview family members (including giving sample interview questions to use), tips on getting people's stories on audio or videotape, how to store their research, and gives great ideas on how to share the information learned with family members.

The bright, colorful illustrations give the book a fun look, and the charts throughout the book are very helpful.

Canadian poet Douglas LePan kept these tender poems of love and longing hidden for over 50 years from all but a few chosen colleagues.
